The presentation I gave (using the slides below) at the Library Instruction West (LIW) 2014, hosted by Portland State University in Portland, Oregon felt like a success. The feedback I received was all very helpful and encouraging. Several people mentioned they felt inspired to do something similar at their colleges and this, more than anything, is what made me feel like my work was worthwhile. The other panelists during during the session had material I found interesting and adaptable. Margot Hanson and Michele Van Hoeck's work with comics in the library instruction is something I will definitely consider using in my own classes. Also, there was much to be learned from the amazingly courageous Ann Fulton and Mary Wegmann because of their successful management of a 5 year sustaining grant to support library student workers as mentors of the Hispanic/Latino community at their university.
